Opening: A confused impression of English tourists shuffling around a church in Ravenna, peering at mosaics, came to Catherine Oliphant as she sat brooding over her pot of tea.
As we are beholden to the code of honest reviewing, here we go and it is bit of a bumpy ride:
Firstly and overindulgently we are introduced to a plethora of one dimensional rhubarbs, and much messiness ensues for a good one hundred plus pages. If this was a modern author we would have bailed yonks ago.
However, it settles down into a madcap that must be even funnier now than it was at its conception. Highly amusing, and downright quirky.
