Page 142 - psychological determinism = cause and effect from childhood environment. I know this as social conditioning.

It is ironical that in a book outlining the need for complete psychological and physiognomical attributes to hunt down a serial killer is written by an author that pays scant regard to fleshing out any of his characters. That's why jokes told by cardboard cutout characters fall as flat as the board they are made of and could be the reason why some folk found this book lacking. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the story, the unfolding procedures, the nature versus nurture debate and the birth of perp profiling. So it doesn't rate a 5* because of the lack of fleshing out but definately gets a strong four for the storyline.
