Opening: The beginning of the journey had been enchanting. Porcelin blue sky and the sparkling white canopy transformed dingy streets into fantasies of unimaginable purity and, passing out of the town, they came to broad fields where sunlight reflected a trellis of branches like veins across the snow.

This should have been a perfect read for me - forest in a snow drenched midwinter but I couldn't find a story to relate to you. All was intangible and insignificant. Luckily, it was short and kept me to the end on a day when I was open to such a waste of time.
