It was raining.
A warm steady drizzle, it was carried ashore from Chesapeake Bay by gusting winds from the southeast, blurring the red tail lights of the cars ahead of them through the steady pulsing of the cruiser's windshield wipers.Up front, for those who have aversions, there is small amount of front-loaded product placement yet not so much as to put you off because it settles down into a police procedural that has a sexual serial killer, deemed to be of average or above average intelligence, in it's cross hairs. This smooth talking, dapperly dressed weirdo is posting taunting selfie DVD's and packages of severed body parts down to the cop shop. There is the prerequiste domestic side to the story, incorporating a human touch of normality, which makes the contrast with the grotesque crimes stand out more starkly.
Overall an eye-scorching read that built up nicely but where the ending was a little below par. Would certainly read another in this series if it comes my way. It is entirely worthy of your time if you are looking for a fast-paced mystery, albeit with a rushed end fizzle that had me hankering for more denoument with regards to the perps background story.
