Before starting to read, I joked that there would be a message written in blood and a cryptic clue. Oh boy! I think I read too much, as by page 27 the checklist for 'catholic thriller intro packages' was complete:

- murder in the famous place, this time it's the Vatican Library reading room *tick*
- flayed body skin *optional*
- two bodies in a church on Tiber Island *tick*
- message written in blood *compulsory* This time the message reads THE BLOOD OF THE MARTYRS IS THE SEED OF THE CHURCH
- crypic message (also written in blood) *tick*:
